Hawkesbury Upcoming Events Calendar

OCTOBER

Annual Sydney Blues Festival

Historic Windsor

Phone: 02 4577 3122
Website: www.sydneybluesfestival.com.au

A celebration of Australian Blues in multiple venues. Headline artists. Three days of glorious music. A festival at its finest and blues at its soul-shaking “blue-est”.

Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival

Kurrajong Village
Old Bells Line of Road

Website: www.kurrajong.org.au

It’s October in Kurrajong Village and crowds turn out for the scarecrow competition and judging. The following day is the “Spectacle of Scarecrows”.

Windsor Polo Club

Old Kurrajong Road
Richmond
(Entry opposite Triangle Lane)

In November the Hector King Tournament is the most important match of the season. It’s a party atmosphere with cantina-style food and beverages, boot picnics and a planned after-match social.

NOVEMBER

Hawkesbury Canoe Classic

The race starts at Windsor and it’s an overnighter – 111 kilometres down the Hawkesbury River. Some paddlers liken these to the walls of the Rhine in Germany. In its long history, the paddlers have raised many dollars for medical research.

New South Wales Water Ski Classic

The Bridge to Bridge in 2009 will be the 48th year and is the longest continuous ski race in the world – some 112 kilometres from Dangar Island to Windsor. There is an “under 10 years” class and one smooth skier has completed the Bridge to Bridge race backwards – twice! Get in on the excitement – there are lots of great viewing spots in the river-bound Villages of the Hawkesbury.

APRIL

St Albans Folk Festival

Three days and four nights of glorious music in the historic village of St Albans make this a unique and special event. Book accommodation very early as overnight facilities are limited. (See Wisemans Ferry/St Albans Accommodation)

6th Collectors’ Plant Fair

Bilpin
Saturday 9am-4pm
Sunday 9am-3pm

Phone: 02 4567 2026
Website: www.kurrajong.org.au
Entry Fee

40 specialist growers will sell unique and hard-to-come by plants, books and garden accessories at the annual Collectors' Fair. This event is so organised, so well-planned, with nationally and internationally recognised horticulturist guest speakers that if you love gardens, you can't miss it.

The Hawkesbury Show

Hawkesbury Showground
Clarendon

Friday 23 - Sunday 25

Phone: 02 4577 3591
Entry Fee

Three days of spectacular ringside entertainment, music and fireworks and a grand parade on Saturday after lunch make for great family fun. Yet, it is the produce displays and mouth-watering cooking exhibitions that remind us of the Hawkesbury’s earlier days. Free parking is available on site.

MAY

St Albans Mountain Bike Race - DIRTWURX

First weekend in May.

Bridge to Bridge Power Boat Race

Governor Philip Park
Windsor

Phone: 02 4731 2255

A favourite on the Hawkesbury Events Calendar, you’ll want to make your accommodation bookings early for this event as every resort, motel and B&B around Windsor, Vineyard and Richmond is occupied. This course is 68 kilometres, from bridge to bridge, starting in Brooklyn and ending in Windsor. Check with the Club as some boats are on display the weekend prior to the race.
